NOTICE OF INTERIM
EMERGENCY RATE INCREASE
On February 13, 2020, the Center Public Service District (District) filed an application for a certificate of convenience and necessity to construct its collection system replacement and wastewater treatment plant modifications project, and a request for a going-level rate increase and a project-related rate increase. The District originally proposed a two-step rate increase, with the first step, a 23.3% increase over current rates, effective at the conclusion of this certificate application and the second step effective upon substantial completion of the Project. Notice of the requested rates was previously mailed to each customer on February 25, 2020 and published on March 4, 2020.
Based on a review of the District’s finances, the Commission has authorized the District to begin billing its requested Step-1 rates on an interim basis in order to avoid financial distress for the District. The interim rates are subject to refund if lower final rates are approved by further Commission order in this matter. Customers may review the specific interim rate changes at the District’s office.
These rates are interim rates only and may be increased, decreased, or left unchanged by the Commission at the conclusion of this case.
