Invitation to Bid R2202169-Marshall University Horizontal Research Mine Shaft Construction Marshall University, on behalf of the Board of Governors, invites sealed bids to supply all work, including but not limited to labor, material, equipment, supplies and transportation for R2202169 – Horizontal Research Mine Shaft Construction, off campus in Huntington, WV. This facility will be used for research purposes and will primarily be built within rock. The scope of work includes construction of a horizontal underground mine shaft, approximately 160 LF, 6 FT wide, and 6 FT high. This shaft can either be hand mined with wood shoring support or jacked and bored with shotcrete support. The main shaft will be bored to the observation room. A 36″ diameter cased ventilation shaft will be bored to the room, which will be approximately 30 LF (BASE BID) or approximately 282 LF horizontal (ALTERNATES) Ancillary work includes but is not limited to, construction layout, cleaning and grubbing, electrical installation, drainage installation, and seeding. At that time bids will be opened, read aloud, and recorded in the Office of Purchasing, Room 125, Old Main Building, Marshall University Campus.
