PUBLIC NOTICE
Belomar Regional Council is in the process of updating the Hazard Mitigation Plan for Marshall, Ohio and Wetzel Counties. Hazard Mitigation Plans are required by the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 (DMA 2000: Public Law (PL) 106-390). The law reinforced the importance of mitigation planning, emphasizing planning before disaster occurs. A draft Hazard Mitigation Plan has been prepared. The purpose of the 5-year plan update is to identify potential hazards, associated risks and actions for mitigation. The draft plan is available on Belomar Regional Council’s website at
