NOTICE OF PUBLICATION Notice is hereby given that the City of Nitro (“City”), a municipal corporation, will hold a hearing before the final vote on a proposed ordinance, the principal object of which is the increase of sewer rates for customers of the sewer system owned by the City of Nitro and operated on its behalf by the Nitro Regional Wastewater Utility. The title of such ordinance, which was introduced on October 18, 2022, is “An Ordinance to amend section 52.14 (Prior Code 915.14) of the Nitro, West Virginia Code of Ordinances, as amended, relating to the rates and charges for services rendered by the Nitro Regional Waste Water Utility.” The City is proposing a 25% increase in existing rates, which would result in the the following rates, fees and r charges for the use and services rendered by the sanity sewer system of the City: First 2,000 gallons used per month $16.43 per 1,000 gallons Next 3,000 gallons used per month $13.79 per 1,000 gallons Next 25,000 gallons used per month $10.70 per 1,000 gallons All Over 30,000 gallons used per month $ 9.63 per 1,000 gallons Minimum Rate: $32.85 based upon 2,000 Gallons Average Bill: $60.44 Based upon 4,000 Gallons Residential Flat Rate Each un-metered residential customer shall be charged a Flat Rate of $52.85 per month. The final vote on adoption of said proposed ordinance shall be held in the Council Chambers of the City of Nitro, 497 1st Avenue South, Nitro, West Virginia, 25143 on November 1, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. Interested parties may appear and be heard at such time with respect to the passage of the proposed ordinance. Copies of the proposed ordinance are available for inspection at the Office of the City Recorder, City Hall, 2009 20th Street, Nitro, West Virginia, 25143, during normal business hours.
