Notice is hereby given that GILBERT MINE, INC, 302 SOUTH JEFFERSON STREET, ROANOKE, VA 24011 has a permit on file with the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for the surface mining of approximately 7 acres and has submitted an application to the DEP, 1159 Nick Rahall Greenway, Fayetteville, WV 25840, for renewal of Article 3 Permit Number U302212 to Operate Deep Mine in the Gilbert MBR—Kanawha seam of coal. The operation is discharging into Reedy Branch of Upper Guyandotte River of the Ohio River and is located 2.1 miles, SouthWest of Coal Mountain in Clear Fork District of Wyoming County, Longitude 81o 43′ 59″ and Latitude 37o 37′ 59″ (Coordinates from USGS Topographic Map).

Written comments and/or requests for an informal conference of the permit renewal application shall identify the applicant and application number and will be received by the Permit Supervisor at the DEP address above until July 9, 2023, or thirty (30) days from the date of final publication.
