Notice is hereby given that Greenbrier Smokeless Coal Mining, LLC, 100 Bill Baker Way, Beckley, WV 25801 has submitted an application with the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), 1159 Nick Rahall Greenway, Fayetteville, WV 25840 for a Phase 1 release on Permit Number S300314 Increment Number 2 issued for 68.78 acres.
The permit is located in Meadow Bluff District of Greenbrier County, 5.7 miles northeast of Quinwood, WV on Unnamed tributaries of/and Brown Creek and unnamed tributaries of/and Sam Creek, all of Big Clear Creek of Meadow River of Gauley River.
Greenbrier Smokeless Coal Mining, LLC completed backfilling and regrading on 05/07/2021 and is requesting release of 60 percent of the reclamation performance bond currently in the amount of $165,600.00.
Written comments will be received at the DEP address above until December 23, 2023, or thirty (30) days from the date of final publication.
