NOTICE OF PROPOSED CONVEYANCE OF UNITED METHODIST CHURCH PROPERTY (Chelyan United Methodist Church) Notice is hereby given that the Board of Trustees of the West Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church will, on or after December 28, 2023 QUITCLAIM, GRANT and CONVEY TO THE TRUSTEES OF CHELYAN JOURNEY OF FAITH CHURCH, all of their right, title and interest in and to the following described lots or parcels of land situate in Cabin Creek District, Kanawha County, West Virginia, bounded and described as follows: PARCEL ONE PARCEL ONE: BEGINNING at a railroad rail at the intersection of the southerly line of the right of way of the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad Company and the westerly line of the property formerly owned by A. J. Richards and now known as the property of the Richards Estate; thence with the westerly line of said Richards Estate, S. 15DEGREES W 310 feet to an iron pin located N. 15DEGREES E. 2-ONE-HALF feet from a 12 inch locust; thence leaving the Richards Estate and crossing the property of Isabelle Calvert, N. 75DEGREES W. 322 feet to an iron pin in the westerly line of said Isabelle Calvert property; thence with said Westerly line, N.15DEGREES E. 289 feet to a post in the southerly line of the right of way of the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad Company; thence with said right of way line, S. 78DEGREES 44′ E. 322.7 feet to the place of beginning containing 2.22 acres; PARCEL TWO: An easement for private road and utility purposes, for ingress to and egress from said 2.22 acres parcel from West Virginia Route 61, to be used in common with the owners of the land abutting the same on either side, on, through, over and across the following described parcel of land: BEGINNING at a point in the southerly line of the 2.22 acres parcel immediately above described, which point is located N. 750 W. 151 feet from the south easterly corner thereof, thence leaving said 2.22 acre parcel and running through the Isabelle Calvert tract, S. 15DEGREES W. 227 feet, more or less, to in the a point northerly line of Route 61; thence with Route61 in a westerly direction 20.5 feet, more or less, to a point; thence in a line parallel to said first mentioned line, and 20 feet distant therefrom, N.15 E. 228 feet, more or less, to a point in the southerly line of said 2.22 acres parcel, which point is located S. 75DEGREES E. 151 feet from the iron pin marking the southwesterly corner of said 2.22acres; thence with the southerly line of said 2.22 acres parcel, S. 75DEGREES E. 20 feet to the place of beginning. And being the same property conveyed to The Trustees of The Chelyan Methodist Church of Chelyan Church from Upper Kanawha Enterprises, Inc., a corporation by Deed dated January 4, 1979 and recorded in the Office of the Clerk of the County Commission of Kanawha County, West Virginia in Deed Book 1894, at page 672. reference to which is hereby made. PARCEL TWO BEGINNING at an iron pin located in the easterly right of way and of that certain 20 foot right of way heretofore acquired by the Board of Education of Kanawha County in a certain condemnation proceeding in which the Board of Education of Kanawha County was Petitioner and Isabelle3 Calvert, et al., were defendants, and which said beginning point is further located N. 14DEGREES 30′ east a distance of 120 feet from the northeast corner formed by the intersection of the said 20 foot right of way with the Chelyan road; thence running with the easterly right of way line of the said 20 foot road N. 14DEGREES 30′ east a distance of 100feet to an iron pin; thence leaving the easterly right of way line of said 20 foot road S. 76DEGREES 30’east a distance of 150 feet to an iron pin and fence post; thence S. 14DEGREES 50′ west a distance of 98.5 feet to a fence post; thence N. 77DEGREES 30′ west a distance of 60.96 feet to an iron pin situate in the northeast corner of the property now or formerly owned by Ralph and Iva Hurst; thence with the northerly line of the said Hurst property N. 76DEGREES 47′ west a distance of 88.5 feet to the place of beginning; And being the same property conveyed to Trustees of The Chelyan United Methodist Church from The Estate of Thelma Hurst White, by Deed dated August 7, 2003 and recorded in the aforesaid Clerk’s Office in Deed Book 2583, at page 807. reference to which is hereby made. Said Chelyan United Methodist Church was declared closed effective October 23, 2023 by resolution of a majority of the District Superintendents of the West Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.
