NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING FOR APPROVAL OF AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING
FOR THE ADOPTION OF SEWER RATES FOR THE
TOWN OF SOPHIA MUNICIPAL WASTEWATER SYSTEM
Notice is hereby given that the Town of Sophia will hold a public hearing at 4:00 p.m. on July 18, 2024, at Sophia Town Hall before the final vote on a proposed ordinance, the principal object of which is the increase of sewer rates for customers of the Town of Sophia Municipal Wastewater System. The Town of Sophia is concerned about the availability and reliability of sewer or wastewater collection and treatment facilities for its customers and citizens, including the age of the current treatment facility and the need for maintenance and improvements thereto. The Town is applying for funding to secure improvements to, relocation, and expansion of its wastewater treatment and collection system, and the Town, in order to fund the expense of those improvements and the ongoing cost of operations of the wastewater treatment system, has deemed it necessary upon the advice of its project team to implement an increase in rates. The proposed rates are as described within the following tariff:
