Request for Proposal (RFP) Appalachian Overland Triangle: ARC ARISE Development Project Issued By: Backroads of Appalachia Submission Deadline: August 15, 2025 Project Overview: Backroads of Appalachia is seeking experienced professionals or organizations to develop the Appalachian Overland Triangle in southern Ohio. This initiative aims to design and map new routes for overlanding and adventure motorcycling enthusiasts. The project involves inventorying existing public rights of way and enhancing regional connectivity through scenic and rugged trails. Scope of Work: – Utilize publicly accessible GIS data to ensure all routes are on public rights of way. – Develop detailed route maps, recording and sharing .gpx files. – Document technical sections of roads, including photos, surface types, and difficulty assessments. – Collaborate with Backroads of Appalachia’s media coordinator for content sharing on social media. Qualifications: – 5 to 10 years experience in mapping or overland route development. – Capability to navigate rugged terrain with a high clearance 4WD vehicle or adventure/dual sport motorcycle. – Demonstrated self-sufficiency in remote areas. – Demonstrated ability to coordinate with local government and tourism boards.
