NOTICE OF THE INCREASE IN THE COUNTY PORTION OF THE EXCISE TAX You are hereby notified that on the 30th day of June, 2026 at 5:00 o'clock p.m. the County Commission of Putnam County, West Virginia will consider increasing the County portion of the excise tax which is levied on the privilege of transferring real estate. Such increase shall be $0.55 per $500.00 of consideration as permitted by the passage of Senate Bill 433 by the West Virginia Legislature which amended West Virginia Code 11-22-2. Such increase, if adopted by the County Commission of Putnam County shall take effect on the 1st day of August, 2026. A copy of the proposed Order adopting the increase of the County portion of the excise tax is available for public inspection at the Offices of the County Commission of Putnam County, located in the Putnam County Courthouse, 12093 Winfield Road, Winfield, West Virginia, and may be examined during regular business hours by any member of the public.
