COUNTY ASSESSOR
AND NOTICE OF ELECTION
TO FILL VACANCY
WHEREAS, notice is hereby given that a vacancy has occurred in the office of County Assessor of McDowell County, West Virginia, due to the death ofAssessor Sherry Burton of McDowell County, West Virginia, effective March 27, 2026.
WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of West Virginia Code § 3-10-1 et seq., the County Commission of McDowell County has determined that said vacancy shall be filled by election.
Accordingly, it is hereby ORDERED that the unexpired term of the Office of County Assessor shall be placed on the ballot for the General Election to be held on the 3rd day of November, 2026.
Candidates for this office shall be nominated in accordance with applicable provisions of the West Virginia Code, including filing requirements and deadlines as prescribed by law.
The person elected shall serve for the remainder of the unexpired term, as provided by law.
This notice is given by Order of the County Commission of McDowell County, West Virginia, entered on the 27nd day of May, 2026.
