Notice is hereby given that MARFORK COAL COMPANY, LLC, PO BOX 457, 370 PACKVILLE/MARFORK ROAD, WHITESVILLE, WV 25209 has a permit on file with the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for the surface mining of approximately 1080.24 acres and has submitted an application to the DEP, 1159 Nick Rahall Greenway, Fayetteville, WV, 25840, for renewal of Article 3 Permit Number S301004 to operate a Coal Surface Mine and related facilities in the Stockton, Coalburg, Winifrede, Chilton, Hernshaw, Cedar Grove, Peerless, No. 2 Gas, Powellton and Eagle seam of coal.
The operation is discharging into Beetree Branch, Slip Ridge Branch and Brushy Fork of Little Marsh Fork and Speed Branch and Right Fork of Sycamore Creek of Clear Fork and Unnamed Tributaries of each of Big Coal River of Coal River of Kanawha River and is located 2.4 miles, southeast of Dorothy in Clear Fork and Marsh Fork District of Raleigh County, Longitude 81° 27 ' 51 " and Latitude 37° 55 ' 27 " (Coordinates from USGS Topographic Map).

Written comments and/or requests for an informal conference of the permit renewal application shall identify the applicant and application number and will be received by the Permit Supervisor at the DEP address above until July 11, 2026, or thirty (30) days from the date of final publication.
