PUBLIC NOTICE – Smithers Sanitary Board

Public Notice The Smithers Sanitary Board is providing public notice that it currently owns and maintains three (3) combined sewer overflows that have the potential to discharge diluted sewage. This may affect the Kanawha River and its tributaries within the Sanitary Board service areas during and immediately after rainfall events. All CSO discharge points have been marked for easy identification with a sign at the end of each pipe. Therefore it is advised that the public should not come in contact within the immediate areas down-steam of the CSO for at least 24 hours after a rainfall of 0.10 inches or greater. In the event of a CSO dry weather discharge, the Sanitary Board should be notified of the CSO location time, and identification number.
