NOTICE OF PROPOSED CONVEYANCE OF UNITED METHODIST CHURCH PROPERTY (Barren Creek United Methodist Church) Notice is hereby given that the Board of Trustees of the West Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church will, on or after June 11, 2020 QUITCLAIM, GRANT and CONVEY TO THE TRUSTEES OF BARREN CREEK COMMUNITY CHURCH, all of their right, title and interest in and to the surface of the following described lot or parcel of land together with any improvements thereon and any appurtenances thereunto belonging, formerly known as the Corton School Building and lot, situate in Big Sandy District, in Kanawha County, West Virginia, bounded and described as follows: BEGINNING at a point in the southern right of way line of the State road, said point being at the south end of a culvert; thence with the southern right of way line of the State road, S 55 20′ E 200 feet to a point; thence leaving the State road S 34 40′ W 132 feet to a stake on river bank 10 feet from water edge; thence down Elk River, S 80 30′ W 123 feet to a stake one foot south of a four inch sycamore on the bank of a branch; thence up said branch N 79.5 feet to a stake on bank; thence N 62 40′ W 81.5 feet to a stake one foot south of a double buckeye; thence N 34 40′ E 160.5 feet to the place of beginning, containing eight tenths of an acre (0.8), more or less. And being the same property conveyed to the Trustees of the Barren Creek United Methodist Church from Geary Land Company, a corporation, by Deed dated June 10, 1964 and recorded in the Office of the Clerk of the County Commission of Kanawha County, West Virginia in Deed Book 1423, at page 110. Said Barren Creek United Methodist Church was declared closed effective March 18, 2020 by resolution of a majority of the District Superintendents of the West Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.
