Notice is hereby given that SOUTH FORK COAL COMPANY, LLC, 1295 Ashford Hill Road, Ashford, WV 25009 has submitted an application to the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), Division of Mining and Reclamation (DMR) located at 1159 Nick Rahall Greenway, Fayetteville, WV 25840 for an Article 3 permit for the surface disturbance of approximately 1121.68 acres in order to Surface and Highwall Mine, including mining within 100 feet of County Road 39/4 in the Sewell and Beckley seams of coal. The proposed operation is discharging into Rough Fork of/and Rocky Run, Little Rocky Run, Mitchell Run, Little Blizzard Run and Blizzard Run; all of South Fork of Cherry River of Cherry River of Gauley River of Kanawha River and is located 7.67 miles Southeast of Richwood in the Falling Spring District of Greenbrier County, Longitude 80deg. 24′ 49.4″ and Latitude 38deg. 09′ 49.4″.

Written comments and/or requests for an informal conference of the surface mining application shall identify the applicant and application number and will be received by the Permit Supervisor at the DEP address above until , or thirty (30) days from date of final publication. A copy of the application will be available for review until August 20, 2020, or thirty (30) days from date of final publication in the DEP Regional Office located at the address above and is available at:
