Notice is hereby given that POCAHONTAS COAL COMPANY, LLC, 109 Appalachian Drive, Beckley, WV 25801 has submitted an application with the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), for a Phase 1 release on Permit Number S302012 Increment Number 1 issued for 40.53 acres.
The permit is located in Slab Fork District of Raleigh County, 1.86 miles northeast of Josephine (Nearest Post Office) on unnamed tributaries of/and Tommy Creek of Stonecoal Creek of Winding Gulf of Upper Guyandotte River.
Pocahontas Coal Company, LLC completed backfilling and regrading on 11/27/2019 and is requesting release of 60 percent of the reclamation performance bond currently in the amount of $93,480.00.
Written comments will be received at the DEP address above until January 10, 2021, or thirty (30) days from date of final publication.
