Notice is hereby given that Pocahontas Coal Company, LLC, 109 Appalachian Drive, Beckley, WV 25801, has submitted an application to the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), Division of Mining and Reclamation (DMR) located at 1159 Nick Rahall Greenway, Fayetteville, WV 25840, for an Article 3 permit for the surface disturbance of approximately 91.08 acres in order to operate a contour and highwall mine in the Pocahontas 7 and all splits thereof seams of coal. This is a re-advertisement due to a change (increase) in the total proposed permitted acres. The proposed operation is discharging into Unnamed Tributaries of/and Allen Creek of Guyandotte River; Unnamed Tributary of Guyandotte River of Ohio River and is located 1.0 miles northeast of Wyco in Slab Fork District of Raleigh and Wyoming County, Longitude 81deg. 19′ 57″ and Latitude 37deg. 36′ 33″ (Coordinates from USGS Topographic Map).

Written comments and/or requests for an informal conference of the surface mining application shall identify the applicant and application number and will be received by the Permit Supervisor at the DEP address above until October 15, 2021, or ten (10) days from date of publication.
