BUILDING & SITE DEMOLITION FOR
FUTURE NATATORIUM
GENERAL NOTICE

Marshall County Schools (Owner) is requesting Bids for the construction of the following Project:
BUILDING & SITE DEMOLITION FOR
FUTURE NATATORIUM

Sealed proposals for the demolition of the existing office building and asphalt parking lot located at 1000 Wheeling Avenue, Glen Dale, WV will be received and logged by Marshall County Schools, 214 Middle Grave Creek Rd., Moundsville, WV 26041 on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at the office of Dr. Shelby Haines, Superintendent, until 2:00 P.M. local time. All Bids will be publicly opened and read aloud shortly thereafter at the Marshall County Board of Education Meeting Room, 214 Middle Grave Creek Rd, Moundsville, WV 26041.

The Project includes the following Work:
* Complete demolition of existing office building. Asbestos evaluations and remediation have already been completed. Contractor to acquire permit, license and provide bonding per City of Glen Dale requirements.
* Termination of utility service lines per City of Glen Dale and utility providers.
* Demolition of sidewalk and integral curb along 10th Street
* Complete demolition of existing asphalt parking lot and associated items.
* Removal of existing trees, shrubs and brush.
* Import and placement of soil fill as necessary to backfill foundation and basement voids.
* Seeding and mulching of disturbed area.

All work shall for this project shall be completed by January 31, 2022.

Prospective Bidders may obtain the Bidding Documents from the Issuing Office on Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. and as described below:

Printed copies of the Bidding Documents may be obtained from the Issuing Office, or a digital copy can be provided via electronic mail. Emailed copies are available at no charge, however, any Bidder requesting printing and shipment of hard copies, or a digital copy on a flash drive, will be responsible for associated costs. Upon Issuing Office’s receipt of payment, printed Bidding Documents or electronic documents on flash drive will be sent via the prospective Bidder’s delivery service. The shipping charge amount will depend on the shipping method chosen. One (1) copy of the bid package may be obtained by each bidder.

A mandatory Prebid Meeting will be held on Thursday, October 28, 2021, at 11:00 A.M. local time at 1000 Wheeling Avenue, Glenn Dale, WV, for the purpose of familiarizing Bidders with bidding requirements and to answer questions regarding the Bidding Documents. All Bidders must attend the Prebid Meeting in order to familiarize themselves with the existing conditions at the project site.
A satisfactory Bid Bond executed by the Bidder or an acceptable surety in an amount equal to 5% of the bid shall be submitted with each bid. The successful Bidder will be required to furnish and pay for a satisfactory 100% Performance Bond and Labor and Material Payment Bond in the amount of the contract price.
The bidder(s) submitting the lowest qualified bid(s) as determined by the results of the bid opening shall submit a listing of all subcontractors and all major equipment and material suppliers proposed for each major branch of work itemized and described in the contract documents for the project.
Each Bidder must ensure that no employees and applicants for employment are discriminated against because of race, creed, color, sex, or national origin.
Bids may not be withdrawn for a period of 30 days without the consent of the Owner. Contractors shall comply with all applicable National, State, and Local codes.
Pursuant to Chapter 21, Article 11 of the “West Virginia Contractor Licensing Act” of 1991, all Contractors doing business in West Virginia must be licensed to perform work in the State; the Contractor’s WV License number must be affixed to all submitted construction bids and fully executed and binding construction contracts or agreements.
Marshall County Schools reserves the right to reject any and all bids, to waive all formalities, and to make selections from the bids that are solely in the best interest of the school system.
