INVITATION TO BID The newly designated Elk River Rail Trail State Park and its companion Elk River water trail provide an unprecedented opportunity to revitalize the communities of Clendenin, Clay, Gassaway and Sutton that are located in proximity to these recreational resources. The Braxton County Development Authority (BCDA), working in partnership with the Elk River Trails Foundation (ERTF), is seeking planning consultants to recommend strategies that effectively attract trail users, capture tourism expenditures, and do so in a manner that does not compromise each community’s unique characteristics. The goal is to identify opportunities that ensure that proposed tourism developments maximize the economic impacts of visitor spending by creating thoughtful connections between communities, their businesses, and the visitors.
