Notice is hereby given that Pocahontas Coal Company LLC, 109 Appalachian Drive, Beckley, WV 25801 has a permit on file with the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for the surface mining of approximately 67.75 acres and has submitted an application to the DEP, 1159 Nick Rahall Greenway, Fayetteville, WV, 25840, for renewal of Article 3 Permit Number O300616 to operate and maintain a coal refuse disposal facility in the Pocahontas – 3—-Pocahontas seam of coal. The operation is discharging into Unnamed Tributaries of/and Soak Creek of Piney Creek of New River of Kanawha River and is located 0.4 miles, southeast of Midway in Town/Slab Fork District of Raleigh County, Longitude 81deg. 14′ 2″ and Latitude 37deg. 42′ 38″ (Coordinates from USGS Topographic Map).

Written comments and/or requests for an informal conference of the permit renewal application shall identify the applicant and application number and will be received by the Permit Supervisor at the DEP address above until February 10th, 2022, or thirty (30) days from date of final publication.
