Notice is hereby given that ELK RUN COAL COMPANY, LLC, PO BOX 457, WHITESVILLE, WV 25209 has a permit on file with the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for the surface mining of approximately 17.38 acres and has submitted an application to the DEP, 1159 Nick Rahall Greenway, Fayetteville, WV 25840, for renewal of Article 3 Permit Number U300894 to maintain and operate a deep mine and related facilities in the Eagle seam of coal.
The operation is discharging into Laurel Branch of Clear Fork of Big Coal River of Little Coal River of Kanawha River and is located 0.5 miles, northeast of Dorothy in Clear Fork District of Raleigh County, Longitude 37deg. 57′ 52″ and Latitude 81deg. 27′ 19″ (Coordinates from USGS Topographic Map).

Written comments and/or requests for an informal conference of the permit renewal application shall identify the applicant and application number and will be received by the Permit Supervisor at the DEP address above until November 1, 2019, or thirty (30) days from the date of final publication. A copy of the application will be available for review until November 1, 2019, or thirty (30) days from the date of final publication in the DEP Regional Office located at the address above AND in the Raleigh County Clerk’s Office(s) during normal business hours.
