Notice is hereby given that POCAHONTAS COAL COMPANY LLC, 109 APPALACHIAN DRIVE, BECKLEY, WV 25801 has a permit on file with the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for the surface mining of approximately 213.61 acres and has submitted an application to the DEP, 1159 Nick Rahall Greenway, Fayetteville, WV 25840, for renewal of Article 3 Permit Number S301013 to maintain and operate a coal Surface Mine in the Pocahontas – 5 — Pocahontas; Pocahontas – 6 — Pocahontas and all associated splits / riders thereof seam of coal.
The operation is discharging into Unnamed Tributaries of/and Beetree Branch of Devils Fork and Unnamed Tributaries of/and Devils Fork all of Guyandotte River of Ohio River and is located 1.8 miles south of Rhodell in Slab Fork District of Raleigh County, Longitude 81deg. 18′ 18.0000″ and Latitude 37deg. 34′ 58.0000″ (Coordinates from USGS Topographic Map).

Written comments and/or requests for an informal conference of the permit renewal application shall identify the applicant and application number and will be received by the Permit Supervisor at the DEP address above until November 14, 2019, or thirty (30) days from the date of final publication. A copy of the application will be available for review until November 14, 2019, or thirty days from the date of final publication in the DEP Regional Office located at the address above AND in the Raleigh County Clerk’s Office(s) during normal business hours.
