Notice is hereby given that INDEPENDENCE COAL COMPANY, LLC, PO BOX 261, JULIANA, WV 25529 has a permit on file with the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for the surface mining of approximately 0.9 acres and has submitted an application to the DEP, 1159 Nick Rahall Greenway, Fayetteville, WV 25840, for renewal of Article 3 Permit Number U301799 to maintain and operate a deep mine and related facilities in the Eagle seam of coal.
The operation is discharging into Shumate Creek of Marsh Fork of Big Coal River of Little Coal River of Kanawha River and is located 1.8 miles, west of Naoma in Marsh Fork District of Raleigh County, Longitude 81deg. 31′ 31″ and Latitude 37deg. 52′ 09″ (Coordinates from USGS Topographic Map).
