NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

A public hearing will be conducted on the proposed closure of Brushfork Elementary School. Students in grades K-5 from Brushfork Elementary School will attend a new elementary school constructed in the Bluewell/Brushfork attendance area. The reasons and supporting data in relation to the proposed closure of Brushfork Elementary and consolidation with Bluewell Elementary in a new facility shall be available for public inspection beginning December 2, 2019, in the office of the Superintendent of Mercer County Schools, during business hours from 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M., and at Brushfork Elementary from 8:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.

Should the location be of insufficient size, said hearing will be held at Bluefield High School beginning at 4:30 P.M. or as soon thereafter as possible.
In the event the hearing is not concluded by 11:00 P.M., said hearing will be continued on January 10, 2020, at 4:00 P.M., or as soon thereafter as possible.

Alternate Date
If the hearing is not held on the scheduled date due to inclement weather or other factors beyond the control of the Board of Education, the alternate hearing date shall be January 16, 2020, at 4:00 P.M., and to be continued if necessary on January 17, 2020, at 4:00 P.M. or as soon thereafter as possible.
Location:
Brushfork Elementary School Members of the public making oral presentations at the public hearing will be limited to five (5) minutes. Written comments may also be submitted for review by the Board of Education. This material must be received in the Office of the Superintendent no later than Monday, January 6, 2020.
