NOTICE OF PUBLIC COMMENT HEARINGS AND
EVIDENTIARY HEARING
On April 30, 2018, West Virginia-American Water Company (WVAWC) tendered for filing revised tariff sheets reflecting increased water rates and charges of approximately $32,692,361 annually (a 24.04 percent increase) for furnishing potable water to approximately 166,000 customers in Boone, Braxton, Cabell, Clay, Fayette, Harrison, Jackson, Kanawha, Lewis, Lincoln, Logan, Mason, Mercer, Putnam, Raleigh, Roane, Summers, Wayne, and Webster Counties. WVAWC proposed to implement the increase across-the-board to all customer classes except for public fire service. This filing was docketed as Case No. 18-0573-W-42T.
On the same day WVAWC filed revised tariff sheets reflecting sewer rates and charges of $218,087 annually (a 23.94 percent increase) for furnishing sewer utility service to 1,036 customers in Fayette County. This filing was docketed as Case No. 18-0576-S-42T.
The Commission suspended use of the revised rates and charges until February 24, 2019, and granted petitions to intervene filed by the Consumer Advocated Division, The Kanawha County & Cities Association, and the City of Charleston.
The Commission will hold the following public comment hearings and the evidentiary hearing on the following dates and times:

1. Bluefield, WV – Tuesday, October 2, 2018, at 6:30 p.m., at the Municipal City Hall, Municipal Board Room, 200 Rogers Street

2. Fayetteville, WV – Thursday, October 4, 2018, at 6:30 p.m., at the Fayette County Courthouse, Circuit Courtroom, 100 Court Street

3. Weston, WV – Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at 6:00 p.m., at the Lewis County Courthouse, Old Circuit Courtroom, 2nd Floor, 110 Center Avenue

4. Charleston, WV – Tuesday, October 16, 2018, at 6:30 p.m., at the West Virginia Public Service Commission, Howard M. Cunningham Hearing Room, 201 Brooks Street

5. Huntington, WV – Monday, October 22, 2018, at 6:00 p.m., at the Cabell County Courthouse, Courtroom No. 1, 2nd Floor, 750 5th Avenue

The Commission will hold an evidentiary hearing beginning Tuesday, October 30, 2018, at 9:00 a.m., at the West Virginia Public Service Commission, Howard M. Cunningham Hearing Room, 201 Brooks Street, Charleston, West Virginia.
