For Modification of a Dam
Notice is hereby given that The City of Mannington has applied for approval to modify the Mannington Water Supply Dam (Little Dents Run), located on the Little Dents Run tributary of Dents Run, 1471 yards upstream of Mannington, Marion County, West Virginia.
The dam is a 53-feet tall earthen embankment currently used for recreation purposes. The dam provides a maximum storage volume of approximately 396 acre-feet. The structure will be modified by lowering the crest elevations of the two-tiered concrete open channel principal/auxiliary spillway by five (5) fee. The alterations will be performed in order to lower the normal reservoir pool elevation due to subsidence and subsequent flooding of properties situated in the upper reaches of the reservoir area. The capacity of the dam to store or discharge rainfall will remain at 27 inches in six hours. The hazard classification of the dam is categorized as Class 1 (High Hazard), indicating that the potential for loss of life is likely if the dam were to fail.
The land surface covered by this application is owned by the City of Mannington, and legal right to conduct operations is by Approval. The dam is owned by the City of Mannington.
Name(s) and address(es) of responsible officer(s), partner(s) or director(s) of the owner are:
