Fayetteville seeking town planner, master plan

FAYETTEVILLE, WEST VIRGINIA

TOWN PLANNER

 

            The Town of Fayetteville, West Virginia, is seeking to enter into a contract for the development of a master plan.  The Town is a vibrant tourist community and gateway to the newly designated New River Gorge National Park and Preserve.  Because of this the Town is expecting to see major increases in tourism, commercial and residential development and wants to be prepared to meet the demands created by these opportunities.

 

Applicants, or Applicant’s employees should have a Master’s Degree in Urban Planning or a related field and at least 5 years’ applicable experience.  The successful contractor must exhibit enthusiasm and creativity toward helping to solve problems that may be created by the influx of tourist, particularly as it relates to communication, parking, transportation, streetscaping, lighting and recreation.  The Contractor must be adept at balancing the many interests of the Fayetteville business and residential community while considering the physical, cultural, historical and economic impacts of projects.  It will be necessary to manage those divergent interests while creating comprehensive solutions to the growth and expansion of the business and residential communities which would be consistent with both government and private interest.
