GRANTING TEMPORARY CUSTODY
On May 23, 2018, the petitioner filed a petition for appointment as guardian of her minor grandchild, J.J. (4 years of age). It is alleged in the petition that the infant’s mother is homeless and father is incarcerated at Mt. Olive Correctional Center. The petitioner appears to be the primary guardian of the infant.
A hearing on the guardianship petition was held on July 24, 2018 at 3:00 p.m.. The Court finds that, pending the hearing date, emergent circumstances exist that mandate the award of temporary legal and physical custody of J.J. to her maternal grandmother. This is in the best interests of the infant and based upon the facts of the petition, the minor’s health and well-being could be jeopardized if this custodial relationship is not established. Based upon the same, it is ORDERED that temporary legal and physical custody of J.J. is GRANTED and will remain in place until further order of the court. The continued hearing will be held on September 24, 2018 at 2:00 p.m..
