GREENBRIER HISTORICAL SOCIETY
FRIENDS OF THE BLUE
LEWISBURG, WV
The Friends of the Blue and the Greenbrier Historical Society are requesting bids for the stabilization of the Blue Sulphur Springs Pavilion as a phase of the overall restoration. The purpose of this phase is to investigate the subsurface integrity of the building and to stabilize the structure. The contractor must carry out the work in compliance with the Secretary of Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation; be licensed in Greenbrier County and the State of WV, and obtain all necessary permits and licenses. This contract will include Federal funds and compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and local laws rules and regulations is required.
The scope of work includes furnishing all material, equipment and labor to survey and document columns; provide archeological oversight; remove silt from interior; excavate and document foundation and footer condition; remove parging from columns and apply a wrap system; install wood stays, cable rings, wood cribbing, scaffolding towers, and cables for support. Qualifications: The contractor must have proof of the completion of three similar projects in masonry restoration in the past four years, and the ability to complete the project in a timely manner as required.
Pre-bid inspection/meeting: A mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held on site at the Blue Sulphur Springs Pavilion on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at 1:00 p.m.
Selection Process: The contractor will be selected based on (1) cost, (2) experience with similar historic preservation projects, and (3) proven ability to complete a project. The project completion date is July 30, 2016.
Bids Due: Sealed bids must arrive no later than 2:00 p.m. local prevailing time on Tuesday, June 7, 2016, at Greenbrier Historical Society/Friends of the Blue, 301 West Washington Street, Lewisburg, WV 24901.
