Notice is hereby given that POCAHONTAS COAL COMPANY LLC, 109 APPALACHIAN DR,, BECKLEY, WV 25801 has a permit on file with the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for the surface mining of approximately 22 acres and has submitted an application to the DEP, 1159 Nick Rahall Greenway, Fayetteville, WV, 25840, for renewal of Article 3 Permit Number U300214 to maintain and operate an underground mine in the Pocahontas No. 2 seam of coal.
The operation is discharging into unnamed Tributary of Tommy Creek of the Stonecoal Creek of Winding Gulf of Guyandotte River of Ohio River and is located 2.5 miles, Southeast of Rhodell in Slab Fork District of Raleigh County, Longitude 81o 15′ 42″ and Latitude 37o 35′ 33″ (Coordinates from USGS Topographic Map).

Written comments and/or requests for an informal conference of the permit renewal application shall identify the applicant and application number and will be received by the Permit Supervisor at the DEP address above until December 17, 2020,or thirty (30) days from the date of final publication. A copy of the application will be available for review until December 17, 2020, or thirty (30) days from the date of final publication in the DEP Regional Office located at the address above and is available at:
