Notice is hereby given that POCAHONTAS COAL COMPANY LLC, 109 APPALACHIAN DR,, BECKLEY, WV 25801 has a permit on file with the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for the surface mining of approximately 202.58 acres and has submitted an application to the DEP, 1159 Nick Rahall Greenway, Fayetteville, WV, 25840, for renewal of Article 3 Permit Number S302009 to maintain and operate an reclaimed surface mine in the Pocahontas No. 6 seam of coal.
The operation is discharging into unnamed Tributary of/and Turkey Branch of Tommy Creek and unnamed Tributaries of/and Tommy Creek all of the Stonecoal Creek of Winding Gulf of Upper Guyandotte River and is located 2.0 miles, Southeast of Rhodell in Slab Fork District of Raleigh County, Longitude 81o 16′ 32″ and Latitude 37o 35′ 26″ (Coordinates from USGS Topographic Map).
