PUBLIC NOTICE

The WV Attorney General along with cities and counties have agreed through a Memorandum of Understanding to create the West Virginia First Foundation, a private, non-stock, 501(c)(3) charitable corporation to oversee distribution of funds for the abatement of the opioid crisis. The West Virginia First Foundation was born out of the need for a coordinated, statewide opioid abatement plan and represents the first step in creating a robust long-term public health infrastructure designed to prevent the reoccurrence of the opioid epidemic.

The Foundation will be governed by an eleven-member Board of Directors. Of the eleven initial directors, five Directors will be appointed by the Governor, with no more than one person from any given Region. The remaining six Directors represent the regions of the State, with one director selected to represent each Region.

As a vacancy has occurred in Region 4, the election of a new Regional Director must take place as outlined in the Bylaws of the WV First Foundation, Article 2, Section 3.3. Therefore, the Monongalia County Commission will host an election for the Region 4 Local Governments to elect a new Regional Director on:

Date: May 9, 2024
