NOTICE OF PROPOSED CONVEYANCE
OF UNITED METHODIST CHURCH PROPERTY

(HAUGHT CHAPEL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH)

Notice is hereby given that the Board of Trustees of the West Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church will, on or after April 19, 2024 QUITCLAIM, GRANT AND CONVEY to the TRUSTEES OF HAUGHT CHAPEL CHURCH those certain lots or parcels of land, situate in Battelle District, Monongalia County, West Virginia, and bounded and described as follows, to-wit:

PARCEL ONE

BEGINNING at a point in the center line of West Virginia Secondary Route No. 15, and running thence with three lines of 1ands of the said Kevin D. Ammons, S. 80° 01′ W. 91.5 feet to a rail post; thence N. 3° 59′ W. 174.34 feet to an iron pin; thence S. 86° 01′ E. 85 feet to a point in the center of said West Va. Secondary Route No. 15; thence with said center line, S. 6° 12′ E. 25.05 feet to a point; thence continuing with said center line S. 6° 37′ E. 127.1 feet to the point and place of beginning and being more particu1arly described on that certain plat of survey prepared by Homer Orr, W. Va. C.E. 3165, a copy of which said plat is recorded in the aforesaid Clerk’s Office in Deed Book 840, at Page 611, reference to which is hereby made.

And being the same property conveyed from Kevin D. Ammons and Marla J. Ammons, his wife to Trustees of the Haught Chapel United Methodist Church by Deed dated April 23, 1980 and recorded in the Office of the Clerk of the County Commission of Monongalia County, West Virginia in Deed Book 840, at Page 608, reference to which is hereby made.

PARCEL TWO

BEGINNING at a point in the center line of West Va. Route 15, said point located 36 feet from center line of an 18″ culvert running under W. Va. Route No. 15; thence with the centerline of West Va. Route 15, N. 6° 37′ W. 205 ft. to a point; thence with a common line of Irnd A. and Jean D. Ammons, N. 80° 18′ E. 96.7ft.; thence N. 48° 04′ E. 81.7 ft. to a corner; thence S. 16° 29′ E. 261.28 ft. to an iron pin; thence with a line of Edith Hayhurst, S. 83° 23′ W. 208 ft. to the point and place of beginning and containing 0.97 of an acre, more or less.

And being the same property conveyed to Trustees of the Haught Chapel United Methodist Church from Dortha Spragg by Deed dated April 5, 1980, and recorded in the aforesaid Clerk’s Office in Deed Book 840, at Page 605, reference to which is hereby made.

PARCEL THREE

BEGINNING at a stake in line of other lands of the parties of the first part, thence N. 00° 15′ W. 25 feet to a stake; thence with other lands of the parties of the first part, N. 86° 00′ E. 64 feet to a stake in road, corner to Ammons; thence with said Ammons S. 00° 25′ E. 25 feet to a stake in roads thence with other lands of the parties of the second part, S. 86 00′ W. 63.7 feet to the point and place of beginning; as shown on a plat of the above described property entitled “Plat of Haught Chapel Church Lot with survey of lot on the lands of Enos Wilsons heirs to be added to the Church lot, situate in Battelle District, Monongalia County, West Virginia. Scale 1″ equals 30′. October. 1962. A.L. Headley, Surveyor”, which said plat is recorded in the Office of the Clerk of County Commission of Monongalia County, West Virginia in Deed Book 618, at Page 476, reference to which is hereby made.

And being the same property conveyed to Trustees of the Haught Chapel United Methodist Church from Sarah E. Wilson etals by Deed dated November 7, 1962 and recorded in the aforesaid Clerk’s Office in Deed Book 618, at Page 466, reference to which is hereby made.

SAID Haught Chapel United Methodist Church was declared closed effective December 31, 2023 by a vote of a majority of the District Superintendents of the West Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.
