Public Scoping Meeting
Public Meeting Notice:
Wolf Creek Watershed Planning
The Town of Fayetteville, with funding through U.S. Department of Agriculture Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS), is preparing a Watershed Plan and Environmental Assessment in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act and the regulations of the federal Council on Environmental Quality at 40 CFR Parts 1500-1508. An identified concern is the existing obsolete dam and impoundment on Wolf Creek, located approximately 1 mile from Fayetteville Town Hall on Craig Ave. (County Rte. 9-8), near where Gatewood Road crosses the reservoir on Wolf Creek. The Watershed Planning effort will consider alternatives to address water quality protection, ecosystem restoration, fish and wildlife habitat enhancement, and recreational development. The planning will include evaluation of any potential environmental impacts and must include input from the public, which must be considered in the development of the final action.
The public is invited to attend a 2-hour meeting to provide input. Scoping meetings will be held at Fayetteville Town Hall on Thursday, November 14, 2024, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. and from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. to determine the scope of the evaluation of the proposed action. Comments received, including the names and addresses of those who comment, will be considered part of the public record on this proposal. For additional information, please contact Christi Hicks, Assistant State Conservationist – Water Resources, at [email protected] or 304-276-5636.
Interested parties may voice their comments, ideas, and concerns about the project during this meeting. Comments may also be submitted via the following methods prior to the end of the scoping period on December 31, 2024:
