Notice is hereby given that ELK RUN COAL COMPANY, LLC, PO BOX 457, , WHITESVILLE, WV 25209 has a permit on file with the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for the surface mining of approximately 66 acres and has submitted an application to the DEP, 1159 Nick Rahall Greenway, Fayetteville, WV, 25840, for renewal of Article 3 Permit Number O500315 to operate and maintain a course coal combined refuse facility (including slurry cells) in the Not Applicable—N/A seam of coal.
The operation is discharging into Unnamed tributary of Clear Fork of Big Coal River of Coal River; And Gibson Branch of Fifteenmile Fork of Cabin Creek ALL of Kanawha River and is located 2.0 miles, northeast of Dorothy in CLEAR FORK and Cabin Creek Districts of Raleigh and Kanawha County(ies), Longitude 81 deg. 25 ‘ 53 ” and Latitude 37 deg. 58 ‘ 16 ” (Coordinates from USGS Topographic Map).
