Invitation to Bid
The City of Bluefield, WV is seeking sealed bids for the renovation of the pool in the Bluefield Fitness and Recreation Center on 703 College Avenue, Bluefield, West Virginia 24701. Bids will be accepted until 4:00 pm on Friday, March 26, 2021. Bids will be opened at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, March 29, 2021 at 200 Rogers Street, Bluefield, WV.
There will be a mandatory pre-bid meeting on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. The meeting will be held at the Bluefield Fitness and Recreation Center on 703 College Avenue, Bluefield, West Virginia 24701. At this time, questions will be answered and a walk-through will be permitted.
The bid project is to include the labor, equipment, and materials to install new pool plumbing, repair tile, and grout on the pool. It will be subject to all West Virginia regulations and building codes. Completion date must be June 30th, 2021. The installation must meet the following parameters:
1. Furnish labor, equipment, and materials to install new pool plumbing and repair tile on the interior of the pool:
— Return Inlets: maximum of 10 new wall return fittings will be installed on both long walls of the swimming pool. The existing returns will be removed. Holes will be drilled through the wall as needed to install fittings. Wall returns will be installed with eyeball fittings. All tile work to be done using white tile. A new 4″ schedule 40 return line will be installed and attached to the new return fittings connected to the existing return line form the filter room.
— Suction Fittings: Fittings will be chipped out and removed. 20 new gutter fittings will be installed in the gutter. All tile work to be done using white tile. Piping will be attached and routed to the suction side of pump. Main Drain fittings and associated plumbing. The existing main drains will be cut out and removed. New main drains will be installed through the bottom of the wall. Main drains will consist of 3- Aquastar Channel Main Drains.
— Repair/replacement of 50 square feet of rusted tile. Stained tiles will be removed. Rebar will be cleaned to remove rusted surface. Rebar will be epoxy coated. Concrete will be repaired. White tile will be installed and grouted white. An additional 10 linear feet of bullnose tiles will be repaired at the ladder and gutter grip perimeters. Tile color to be Daltile Biscuit, ocean blue, and SeaSpec.(Specific bullnose profile may be obsolete)
2. Grouting of the interior of the pool. The existing tile and grout surface will be acid washed and pressure washed clean and to remove all loose grout. New Mapei UltraColor FA plus grout will be installed on the entire interior of the swimming pool up to the gutter edge not including the decking.
Note:
Contractors must hold or attain a West Virginia State Contractor License and a City of Bluefield Business License. There will be NO prevailing wage. B & O tax is required at 1.75%.
Sealed bids must be clearly marked “POOL RENOVATION” and may be mailed or delivered to City of Bluefield, Attention: Charles Ridlehuber, 200 Rogers Street, Bluefield, WV 24701.
