Public Notice of Destruction of Special Education Records

Monroe County Public Schools, which serves James Monroe High School, Mountain View School, Peterstown Elementary School, Peterstown Middle School, and Monroe County Technical Center, announces that it will be destroying all special education records of children who were dismissed, transitioned, dropped from the program, or found eligible or not found eligible for the program prior to or during the 2010-2011 school year, according to state and federal guidelines.

Parents and/or guardians have the right to review or request copies of these records before they are destroyed. The records will be available for viewing until August 13, 2021 at the Monroe County Board of Education office. They will be destroyed after this date. THESE RECORDS ARE NOT YOUR CHILD’S PERMANENT SCHOOL RECORDS. THEY ARE SPECIAL EDUCATION RECORDS ONLY.
