Notice is hereby given that Pocahontas Coal Company LLC, 109 Appalachian Drive, Beckley, WV 25801 has a permit on file with the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for the surface mining of approximately 186.68 acres and has submitted an application to the DEP, 1159 Nick Rahall Greenway, Fayetteville, WV, 25840, for renewal of Article 3 Permit Number S300106 to maintain and operate a highwall mine in the Pocahontas 5, Pocahontas 6, and splits of the Pocahontas 5 and Pocahontas 6 seam of coal. The operation is discharging into Unnamed Tributaries of/and Tommy Creek, Brag Branch all of Stonecoal Creek of Winding Gulf of Upper Guyandotte River and is located 2.20 miles, east of Rhodell in Slab Fork District of Raleigh County, Longitude 81deg. 16′ 26″ and Latitude 37deg. 36′ 36″ (Coordinates from USGS Topographic Map).

Written comments and/or requests for an informal conference of the permit renewal application shall identify the applicant and application number and will be received by the Permit Supervisor at the DEP address above until November 6th, 2021, or thirty (30) days from date of final publication.
