Notice is hereby given that Pocahontas Coal Company LLC, 109 Appalachian Drive, Beckley, WV 25801 has a permit on file with the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for the surface mining of approximately 267.94 acres and has submitted an application to the DEP, 1159 Nick Rahall Greenway, Fayetteville, WV, 25840, for renewal of Article 3 Permit Number S300711 to maintain and operate a reclaimed surface mine in the Beckley, Pocahontas No. 6, and Pocahontas No. 6 Rider seam of coal. The operation is discharging into Unnamed Tributaries of/and Tommy Creek of Stonecoal Creek of Winding Gulf and Unnamed Tributaries of/and Devils Fork all of Upper Guyandotte River and is located 2.9 miles, southeast of Rhodell in Slab Fork District of Raleigh County, Longitude 81deg. 16′ 26″ and Latitude 37deg. 34′ 32″ (Coordinates from USGS Topographic Map).

Written comments and/or requests for an informal conference of the permit renewal application shall identify the applicant and application number and will be received by the Permit Supervisor at the DEP address above until November 25, 2021, or thirty (30) days from date of final publication.
