Notice is hereby given that LEXINGTON COAL COMPANY, LLC, 1051 MAIN STREET SUITE 2, , MILTON, WV 25541 has a permit on file with the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for the surface mining of approximately 256.08 acres and has submitted an application to the DEP, 1159 Nick Rahall Greenway, Fayetteville, WV, 25840, for renewal of Article 3 Permit Number S300296 to Operate a Coal Surface Mine in the Coalburg, Stockton, No. 6 Block and No. 5 Block seams of coal.
The operation is discharging into Fourmile Fork, Nutter Hollow, and Blake Branch of Smithers Creek; Left Fork of Big Creek and Scrabble Creek of Gauley River all of the Kanawha River and is located 2.7 miles, east of Cannelton, WV in Valley District of Fayette County, Longitude 81deg. 14′ 52″ and Latitude 38deg. 11′ 15″ (Coordinates from USGS Topographic Map).
