Notice is hereby given that POCAHONTAS COAL COMPANY, LLC, 109 Appalachian Drive, Beckley, WV 25801 has submitted an application with the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), 1159 Nick Rahall Greenway, Fayetteville, WV 25840 for a Phase 1 release on Permit Number S301508 issued for 158.51 acres.
The permit is located in Slab Fork District of Raleigh County, 1.8 miles southwest of Odd (Nearest Post Office) on unnamed tributaries of/and Richland Hollow of/and Wiley Spring Branch of Devils Fork; and unnamed tributaries of Tommy Creek of Stonecoal Creek of Winding Gulf; all of Upper Guyandotte River.
Pocahontas Coal Company, LLC completed backfilling and regrading on 01/02/2016 and is requesting release of 60 percent of the reclamation performance bond currently in the amount of $260,760.00.
Written comments will be received at the DEP address above until June 16, 2022, or thirty (30) days from date of final publication.
