CORRECTIVE ACTION PLAN FOR PETROLEUM IMPACTED SITE

PUBLIC NOTICE NO.:02-024-1

In response to a release of petroleum products from regulated tanks, the property owner/operator under the direction of the Tanks Corrective Action Unit of the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection (WVDEP) developed a draft corrective action plan (CAP) for the following site:

Former Little General Store #302
4245 Robert C. Byrd Drive
Beckley, West Virginia
Facility ID #4103605;
Leak ID 02-024

Soil and groundwater is contaminated above the WVDEP action levels at the subject site as a result of a petroleum release from an underground storage tank (UST) system removed in 2002. Injection of persulfate and ferric iron are proposed to treat the soil and groundwater via chemical oxidation.

The CAP briefly describes the extent of the release and details the proposed cleanup methods at the site. Copies of the CAP are available for public review at the following location:

WVDEP Office of Environmental Enforcement Tanks Corrective
Action Unit
601 – 57th Street, Charleston, WV 25304

Phone: (304) 926-0470
8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Interested parties may submit written comments during the 30-day period beginning May 29, 2022 through June 28, 2022.

Correspondence should include the name, address and telephone number of the writer. It also should include the leak ID number and a concise statement regarding the CAP. Comments and/or questions should be directed to Tanks Corrective Action Unit at the above-referenced address.
