Notice is hereby given that POCAHONTAS COAL COMPANY, LLC, 109 Appalachian Drive, Beckley, WV 25801 has submitted an application with the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), 1159 Nick Rahall Greenway, Fayetteville, WV, 25840 for a Phase 1 release on Permit Number S300106 issued for 186.68 acres.
The permit is located in Slab Fork District of Raleigh County, 2.2 miles east of Rhodell (Nearest Post Office) on unnamed tributary of/and Tommy Creek, Bragg Branch all of Stonecoal Creek of Winding Gulf of Guyandotte River of Lower Ohio River.
Pocahontas Coal Company, LLC completed backfilling and regrading on 10/15/2018 and is requesting release of 60 percent of the reclamation performance bond currently in the amount of $426,360.00.
Written comments will be received at the DEP address above until November 26, 2022, or thirty (30) days from date of final publication.
