Notice is hereby given that Pocahontas Coal Company LLC, 109 Appalachian Drive, Beckley, WV 25801 has a permit on file with the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for the surface mining of approximately 80.20 acres and has submitted an application to the DEP, 1159 Nick Rahall Greenway, Fayetteville, WV 25840, for renewal of Article 3 Permit Number O013583 to maintain and operate a preparation plant and haulroad in the N/A seam of coal. The operation is discharging into Soak Creek of Piney Creek of the New River of Kanawha River and is located 0.75 miles southeast of Midway in Town District of Raleigh County, Longitude 81deg.13’33” and Latitude 37deg.42’43” (Coordinates from USGS Topographic Map).

Written comments and/or requests for an informal conference of the permit renewal application shall identify the applicant and application number and will be received by the Permit Supervisor at the DEP address above until June 2, 2023, or thirty (30) days from the date of final publication.
