NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Board of Supervisors of Tazewell County, Virginia will hold a public hearing on December 1, 2020, at 6:30 PM, or as soon thereafter as may be practical, in the Tazewell County Administration Building, at 197 Main Street, Tazewell, Virginia, 24651, to hear comments regarding the Board’s intention to allow an exemption from full assessment real estate taxation and/or personal property taxation for the real and/or personal property of the Princeton Community Hospital Association, Inc.

The first parcel of real estate is known as Bluefield Family Medicine, being Tax Map Number 025-A-0044A, located at 106 Huffard Drive, Bluefield, VA 24605. The second parcel of real estate is known as DermOne, being Tax Map Number 025-A-0044C, located at 110 Huffard Drive, Bluefield, VA 24605. The third parcel of real estate is known as Regional Surgical Services, being Tax Map Number 024A6A-0003B, located at 231 and 234 Medical Park Drive, Bluefield, VA 24605. The fourth parcel of real estate is known as Bluefield Internal Medicine, being Tax Map Numbers 026A05-000D, 000E, and 000F, located at 2111 College Avenue, Bluefield, VA 24605. Princeton Community Hospital, Inc. desires to utilize the above referenced properties to provide medical services for charitable and benevolent purposes, which will enrich the welfare of Tazewell County citizens.

This Ordinance is authorized by Section 58.1-3651 of the Code of Virginia (1950), as amended. The real estate taxation exemption would be for taxes on the real property and improvements thereupon. The annual combined assessed value of all real estate parcels will be $4,724,100.00, effective January 1, 2021. The total annual expected exemption would be $27,399.78. The properties currently owned by Princeton Community Hospital Association, Inc. are subject to taxation. The exemption would be conditioned on use of the property for provision of medical services for charitable and benevolent purposes.

The personal property taxation exemption would be for personal property in Tazewell County, Virginia owned by Princeton Community Hospital, Inc. The annual combined assessed value of all personal property will be $302,500.00, effective January 1, 2021. The total annual expected exemption would be $6,050.00. The personal property currently owned by Princeton Community Hospital Association, Inc. is subject to taxation. The exemption would be conditioned on use of the personal property for provision of medical services for charitable and benevolent purposes.

A copy of the complete Ordinance as hereby proposed for amendment is on file in the office of the County Administrator at the above address and is posted beside the Circuit Court Clerk’s Office on the second floor of the Tazewell County Courthouse on Court Street in Tazewell, Virginia.

Any persons wishing to comment on the proposed Ordinance may appear and be heard on the subject. The Board may enact the Ordinance immediately following the hearing.
