Notice is hereby given that POCAHONTAS COAL COMPANY, LLC, 109 Appalachian Drive, Beckley, WV 25801 has submitted an application with the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), for a Phase 2 release on Permit Number S302012 Increment Number 2 issued for 35.45 acres.
The permit is located in Slab Fork District of Raleigh County, 1.86 miles southwest of Josephine (Nearest Post Office) on unnamed tributaries of/and Lefthand Fork of Tommy Creek; unnamed tributaries of/and Tommy Creek; all of Stonecoal Creek of Winding Gulf of Upper Guyandotte River.
Pocahontas Coal Company, LLC completed revegetation on 04/21/2020 and is requesting release of 25 percent of the reclamation performance bond currently in the amount of $39,672.00.
Written comments will be received at the DEP address above until April 4, 2024, or thirty (30) days from date of final publication.
