Signs and Wayfinding on
Motorized Trails
Notice of Public Review Period January 11-26, 2021

Find out about the proposalmaintain trails and install wayfinding and signage on motorized trails owned by various property owners and managed by Southwest Regional Recreation Authority in Lee, Wise, Dickenson, Buchanan, Scott, Russell, and Tazewell Counties.Funding for the project is provided by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) through the Recreational Trails Program administered by the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation.

In accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Southwest Regional Recreation Authority has conducted environmental investigations necessary to evaluate impacts of maintenance of existing trails, signage and wayfinding including, picnic areas and kiosk on cultural resources, noise, air quality, threatened and endangered species, hazardous materials, water quality, and environmental justice. Compliance with state and federal environmental laws and regulations is summarized in the form of a Categorical Exclusion, which you can also review on the project webpage.If you do not have internet access, please call (276 807-7581)to have the plans and/or the Categorical Exclusion document emailed to you.
