ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS Nicholas County Building Commission 911 Call Center Project Sealed Bids for the rehabilitation of the former Post Office in Summersville: 911 Call Center Project Furnishing all materials, labor, and necessary items for the rehabilitation and construction of an adaptive reuse of the former Post Office at 449 Water Street, Summersville, WV, to a 911 Call Center, including the construction of a bombproof call center with ballistic windows, as indicated on the Plans and Specifications. The work is limited to the first floor of the former Post Office Building, with the exception of a new complete fire alarm and sprinkler system on the first and second floor (Approximately 10,900 sf), new roofing on all roofs of the building (Approximately 7,600 sf) and new exterior stair from the second floor to the roof. Sealed Bids for the construction will be received at the office of the Nicholas County Commission, Nicholas County Courthouse, 700 Main St, Summersville, WV 26651, (304) 872-7820 until 2:00 p.m. local time on Thursday, June 23, 2022, at which time the Bids received will be publicly opened and read. A mandatory pre-bid conference will be conducted at the former Post Office site, 449 Water Street, Summersville, WV, at 2:00 pm, on Thursday June 2, 2022. Contract Times: The Owner intends to award the contract by July 1, 2022. The contractor shall complete the project to substantial completion by January 1, 2023. Bids shall be submitted on the furnished Bid forms. Bids shall be on a lump sum price basis as indicated on the Bid Form. Prospective Bidders should note that these contracts will include the following critical requirements as identified in the contract documents: 1. Bid Bond 2. Certification of Non-Segregated Facilities 3. WV Contract Licensing Act – All bidders are required to have a West Virginia Contractor’s License per Section 21-11-11 of the West Virginia Code. 4. WV Drug Free Workplace NONDISCRIMINATION IN EMPLOYMENT Bidders on this work will be required to comply with the President’s Executive Order No. 11246. The requirements for bidders and contractors under this order are explained in the specifications. WV Alcohol and Drug Free Workplace Act WEST VIRGINIA CODE 21-1D-5 PROVIDES THAT ANY SOLICITATION FOR A PUBLIC IMPROVEMENT CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT REQUIRES EACH VENDOR THAT SUBMITS A BID FOR THE WORK TO SUBMIT AT THE SAME TIME AN AFFIDAVIT OF COMPLIANCE WITH THE BID. THE ENCLOSED DRUG-FREE WORKPLACE AFFIDAVIT MUST BE SIGNED AND SUBMITTED AS EVIDENCE OF THE VENDOR’S COMPLIANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS OF ARTICLE 1D, CHAPTER 21 OF THE WEST VIRGINIA CODE. FAILURE TO SUBMIT THE SIGNED DRUG-FREE WORKPLACE AFFIDAVIT SHALL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION OF SUCH BID.
