PUBLIC NOTICE CORRECTIVE ACTION PLAN FOR PETROLEUM IMPACTED SITE PUBLIC NOTICE NO.: 99-104A DATE OF PUBLICATION: 01 51/4024 NEWSPAPER: Charleston Gazette-Mail In response to a release of petroleum products from regulated tanks, the property owner perator under the direction of the Tanks Corrective Action Unit of the Department of Environmental Protection developed a draft corrective action plan (CAP) for the following site: WVDOT-DOH Putnam County Headquarters WV Route 34 Hurricane, West Virginia Facility ID 4004835 Leak ID 99-104 In July 1999, soil exhibiting characteristics of petroleum impacts were identified at West Virginia Department of Transportation – Division of Highways (WVDOT-DOH) Putnam County Headquarters during underground storage tank (UST) system closure activities necessitated by adjacent West Virginia State Route 34 expansion and utility relocation. West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection (WVDEP) was notified of impacts at the Site, and release Leak ID #99-104 was subsequently issued. Residual petroleum hydrocarbon impacts to groundwater remain at WVDOT-DOH Putnam County Headquarters and an adjacent off-site property as a result of the July 1999 release event. Therefore, a CAP was prepared proposing injection of PersulfOx Catalyzed Persulfate In-Situ Chemical Oxidation (ISCO) reagent to address residual groundwater impacts. The CAP briefly describes the extent of the release and details the proposed cleanup methods at the site.
