SOLICITATION FOR ENCLOSURE FOR PICKLEBALL COURTS FOR THE CITY OF NITRO NITRO, WEST VIRGINIA Pursuant to WV Code, the City of Nitro is soliciting proposals from qualified contractors to provide design, engineering, and construction of an enclosure over the existing pickleball courts located at the Nitro Athletic Complex, 1650 Park Ave. in Nitro, West Virginia. In 2023 the City of Nitro completed construction of a new athletic complex, which included nine (9) post-tension concrete pickleball courts. The size of the area dedicated for these courts was approximately 201′-6″ x 121′-6″. An engineered 4′-8″ deep x 2′-0″ wide reinforced concrete grade beam was installed around the perimeter of the courts for the future installation of this enclosure. In addition, there was a 26′-0″ x 30′-0″ reinforced concrete slab constructed adjacent to the courts for equipment and a supplemental structure if required for the enclosure. The City of Nitro is seeking design and construction services for a “turn-key” project for this enclosure. The enclosure is to be a PVC covered steel structure, a fabric cable grid dome, or other similar structure suitable for year-round play meeting the requirements of the Authorities Having Jurisdiction including, but not limited to, the City of Nitro and the Office of the West Virginia State Fire Marshal. The enclosure is to also be designed for tournament play as set by Pickleball rules governing bodies. The structure is to be designed and engineered to be constructed in the current designated area. The grade beam shall be engineered and modified as required to accommodate the design requirements for the proposed structure. The structure is to have tournament quality lighting and gas heat to temper the air during colder months. An “open-air” structure that walls can be opened or removed is preferred. Air conditioning is to be provided if a fully enclosed structure is proposed. Construction documents for the existing athletic complex are available for review in the Nitro Building Department office. You may contact The Building Department to review the documents or to make arrangements for site visits. Funding is being provided from an Economic Enhancement Grant (EEG) thru The State of West Virginia. Design uilder will be required to meet the payment procedures established by this funding source. Only written proposals will be considered. The Owner shall accept the proposals until 4:00 pm EST on Tuesday, April 16, 2024. Proposals may be mailed to the Nitro City Hall, Atten: Rita Cox, P.O.
